The base for this tea is Pekoe Gunpowder green tea from Sri Lanka. The name “Gunpowder” is said to originate from the fact that tea leaves are rolled in very tight balls that resemble gunpowder pellets. Combining lemon and green tea produced a very enjoyable result – a soothing and very refreshing cup of tea with an additional benefit of a little extra vitamin C.

Country of Origin: Sri Lanka Region: Uva Grade: Pekoe Gunpowder Altitude: 2500 – 3000 feet above sea level Manufacture Type: Orthodox Ingredients: Luxury green tea, Calendula petals, Natural dried lime, Natural flavors. Pekoe Gunpowder is one of the stronger flavored green teas on the market and takes your taste buds on a journey of smoky depths with each sip. Its strength and flavor comes from the way it is rolled during production. The labor-intensive process includes hand rolling each individual leaf in order to force flavorful liquids from the center of the leaf to the surface. Firing seals the leaf in this rolled state and keeps the flavor and power contained.

    Citrus Bang!

Posted by MB on 13th Mar 2013

This tea is growing on me each time I try it (now that I paid attention to water temps and steeping times)! At first, I used piping hot water and let it steep too long which made the citrus flavor too strong even little bitter - for my taste. I think this will be a popular tea for summer time for me, hot or cold the lemon and lime will be very light and refreshing.
